Encounter with 'the Uniform'!

Maithli Pant(Fictional Name) is just like any other girl, like you and me.This is her story, story of a girl who like any other girl find 'Men in uniform' as the most handsome male species on this earth.

I was getting ready in our dressing room in front of mirror. And then I saw 'The uniform',Right behind. Yes I had put it there just to ensure your presence. No, don't worry, I brush it everyday just like you would do. I remember, you used to say, for men in uniform, Country comes first, rest all are secondary!! It's their pride.

I was about to apply the eye liner, and one of those amongst the pretty memories flashed in. remember, once you  said, Girl, 'dreams are not those which we see with our closed eyes in a sound sleep, but dreams are seen with eyes open which never let's you sleep'.These were the words of Late Dr.Kalam whom you always followed.

I kept the liner down at the table and allowed all the memories to come in line, lowered my eyes and sat there for few seconds.

Remember the off duty days when you used to be home, you kept on telling the stories of your postings, what you did, how you did it ,which you had already  written in the letters you shared. But telling it again and again made you so proud, and you used to say, No life is better than the life serving for the country and our people.

Though I don't have much memories with you , I  do have yours preserved in the form of letters.
Your insecurity, your respect towards the uniform developed a sense of gratitude in me, you being my strength, my love.

Today I am moving ahead and you are not here to hold my hand, to make me believe, i won't let anyone down. I miss you and I wish you were here, Papa!!

Tears rolling down my eyes prevented me to apply my eye liner. The only thing left now.
Had you been here, you would have seen how beautiful your daughter is looking. The day when I needed you the most. Never mind, you taught me enough to be as elegant as beautiful bride and at the same time as strong as you.

I gently applied the eye liner. Got up in the front of mirror, looked at his uniform behind, raising my hand in salutation and wishing if he was here to listen
Capt.Mathili Rajeswar Pant reporting, Sir!!!!!

Yes, you were right, I didn't feel the worth of this uniform uptill today, when I own it.
Yes Papa, I did not  fall for man in uniform, I rather chose to be 'Women in it'
