........54 PsOW of 1971#VijayDiwas

For those who never returned............

At the entrance of the Dining Hall of NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY (NDA) Asia's Largest Mess, There is a table set for one with chair tilted forward, set for Armed Forces Personnel Who are PsOW and forgotten. In honour of these soldiers, The army has kept the tradition Alive for the past 45 years.


Symbolic reason

Not Just one War, but many in tale,
Where Indian Army proved its mettle and never Failed!

Table Set is small,
Frailty of prisoners is its symbol!

Single rose displayed,
Reminding us of Family and loved ones of In Armed Comrades!

Candle Unlit, Symbol of their Unconquerable Spirit!

The slice of lemon and salt on the bread plate,
Reminding us of their bitter fate and Families' Tears as they wait!

The glass Inverted, As they cannot toast with us this night,
Salute to the braves, tribute to their Lives!!!

The Chair- It is Empty, for those who never returned!
